Kootz returns to the subject of his classic, The Watchers where dogs have somehow become equal to humans in intelligence. A group of these animals can communicate through telepathy. When one of them hears a young boy calling for help through the telepathic link, Kipp, a golden retriever, sets out to find the child.
The child, Woody, is a non-talkative, high-functioning autistic. He has used his near-genius skills to track down his father’s murderer, but the killers are on to him and are now coming for him.
Can a retired Navy SEAL, his mother, and a special dog hold back the killers and win the day?
Great fun, a lot of action and tension that Koontz is famous for.
