Fairy Tale by Stephen King
This is a massive tome of a book. As with many of King’s book, it’s large. In fact, the audio version is 24 hours and six minutes long. But none of it is boring. Meet Charlie, a 17-yr-old who has helped his father through the loss of wife and alcohol addiction. He’s also the guy that helps a grumpy old man who falls off a ladder and is rendered immobile. As Charlie gets to know the man, he realizes the there are secrets in this man’s life that are astounding. First off, he has something lurking in his shed and buckets of gold hidden in his house.
When the old man dies, Charlie inherits everything, including the biggest secret, the knowledge that the shed hides a well that leads to another world. A world of danger, adventure, and terrible evil. It’s a fairytale world.
Join Charlie and his faithful German Sheppard as they explore this incredible world and the quest to rid the people of an ancient evil.
I admit being hesitant to investing in this because of The Talisman that King wrote with Peter Straub. I was not a fan of that story, which seemed to ramble all over the place. But this story has a very clear path, and I found enjoyable.
