Into the Fire by Rick Mofina
I enjoy reading a trilogy together, so I have grouped the next three reviews together.
First in the trilogy, Into the Fire introduces us to investigative report Ray Wyatt, who is struggling after the disappearance of his son and the death of his wife. He uses his job to block out the pain. The job takes him to a secluded wilderness where a child is found in an almost catatonic state. This leads to a cabin where the parents have been brutally murdered and the young female child is missing. Ray follows the clues that he uncovers using his sources while FBI Special Agent Gill McDade follows the evidence. Both investigations parallel the other until the killer makes a bold move that puts them together.
Mofina has us on the edge of our seats as each brutal clue leads to another and spares no one’s feelings to show the depravity of a sick mind.
