The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly

This is a Lincon Lawyer story. A banker is killed and police make a fast arrest of an advocate that has been protesting the mortgage foreclosures which occurred a few years ago. Mickey, who was already representing the woman, has to gear up for a murder case. Neither the prosecutor nor the Judge is ready to give him a break. It is all up to Mickey and his team to sway a jury from a case that seems open and shut.

One of my favorite Lincon Lawyer stories. The lead-up and investigation is exciting and suspenseful, the courtroom drama is riveting, but it the ending that blew me away. I honestly didn’t see it coming. Just, WOW!
