The God of the Woods by Liz Moore

Two siblings go missing from a nature camp, years apart. The ensuing investigations expose a large group of suspects, from fellow campers to some of the richest bankers in the country. A lone female state investigator must battle her own team members, the arrogance of the rich, and gain the trust of some of the key witnesses to find these missing children.

What I did like was the list of really hateful suspects. The author did a great job making these people easy to hate. From the rich patrons who feel they are above the law and don’t need to answer to anyone for their actions to the average people who try to hide their failings from the police. As with most books, the

investigation heats up in the latter part of the book.

What I could have done away with was the (excessive POVs) and multiple timelines. There was so much back story, that it was hard to keep track of both the characters and which child we were supposed to be worried about. I appreciate that this book is getting rave eviews, but, for me, I think it could have been told in a more concise manner.
