This story started out like a high-octain conspiracy thriller. When a frantic senator pleaded with reporter Jack Logan to protect his wife if anything happened to him. He is clearly confused. Jack used to date the senator’s wife. When the senator is found dead, Jack follows through and hired killers are indeed stalking Taylor. They escape just in time, but Jack finds himself framed by the killers as a kidnapper.

Through his investigation, he finds that there is a shadow entity manipulating the government at every level, and now they have made Jack and Taylor their number one target.

This is by the seat of your pants reading. Extremely exciting. Where it went off the rails for me is the underlying reason, the bad guy is doing what he’s doing (I don’t want to give the story away). I found it way out there. Conspiracy, crooked law enforcement, and corrupt politicians I could believe. The rest was too far out there for me.
