The Northern Queen is a historical account of a turning point in England’s history. In 1002, King Aethelred, orders the massacre of thousands of Danes living in England peacefully. In retaliation, the Danish King, Sweyn Forkbeard, attacks England. A Norman noblewoman, Aelfgifu, whose father and brother had been betrayed by the English King, marries Canute, son of the Danish King. Together they rule the country until Canute is forced to relinquish his marriage to a pagan for one who is recognized by the church. His new wife is a manipulator who plans on having one of her own sons crowned king.

This is an amazing story of love, betrayal, adventure, and sacrifice.
