The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

Being a fan of Ancient Greece and Rome, I have been wanting to read The Song of Achilles for a while now. The author is an authority on the subject and did not disappoint. It follows Achilles' brief life through the eyes of his companion, Patroclus. From his early years and training to the battles at the gates of Troy, Miller has resurrected Homer’s classic story, the Iliad.

Although I found David Gemmel’s Troy trilogy much more entertaining, this rendition was closer to the original poem by Homer, which made it quite satisfying. I would recommend both versions and would love to hear to hear what others think.
