Whalefall by Daniel Kraus

Now for something totally different!

As soon as I read the premise for this story, I was hooked.

Jay Gardiner is trying the impossible. A year after his father’s suicide by drowning, he returns, hoping to find some part of his father to bury. Although he felt he never matched his father’s expectations, he wants to prove to himself that he was better than his father took himself.

While scuba diving, he witnesses a giant squid being eaten by a sperm whale. At the last moment, the squid grabs Jay and pulls him into the whale’s mouth to be devoured. Jay only has an hour of air left. Can he survive inside a living whale? And how can he get out?

This was one of the most exciting and wildest thrill rides I’ve been on in quite some time. The audio version is very exciting and the narrator, Kirby Heyborne, was excellent.
